Man Goes Mad – Short Film Project
At MAAC South Ex, Man Goes Mad was created as a high-concept short film exploring surreal visuals and emotional storytelling. I was responsible for the entire compositing process, color grading, and sound design — shaping the raw shots into a polished cinematic experience.
Research & Creative Insights
- Understanding Narrative Flow: Analyzing the story to decide how VFX and compositing could amplify the surreal, chaotic tone.
- Look Development: Exploring different grading styles to establish the right mood and visual identity for the film.
- Sound & Atmosphere: Designing audio layers that matched the film’s tension, from subtle ambiences to impactful sound cues.
Problem Statement
- Footage required heavy compositing, cleanup, and grading to align with the story’s dramatic tone.
- Without proper sound design and polished visuals, the film risked losing its intended emotional weight.
Final Outcome & Impac:
- Through color grading, VFX compositing, and seamless shot integration, the film achieved a striking, cinematic tone.
- Custom audio layering enhanced the film’s surreal energy, making it more immersive and emotionally gripping.
The project stood out as a showcase of post-production craft, praised for its mood, atmosphere, and technical finish.
